Debate

Anyone who hosts a party where alcohol is consumed becomes legally responsible for all guests. I agree that the host of a party is legally responsible for their guests. If you invite someone to your house and alcohol is being consumed you should make sure they aren't driving, and that they do have a ride home. You are providing a place for people to drink, so you are responsible for them. According to MADD Canada there were between 1350 and 1600 impaired crash fatalities in Canada each year. That works out to 3.7-4.4 deaths per day. There were also 75 374 impaired related injuries, which is 207 per day. If you host a party and let your guests leave impaired, or drive home impaired you are just contributing to these statistics. In conclusion, if you are hosting a party you are legally responsible for all the guests.

55 Fiction: The Natural Life Saver

I was struggling to hang on. The three men were trying to push me out the door. We were 10,000 feet in the air on a private plane. They finally threw me out and I was free falling with no parachute when I realized it. I spread out my beard and parachuted to the ground.

The sun was rising and you could feel the temperature increasing at an incredible rate. The hot air was suffocating and tasted dry in my mouth. The heat was all around and there was no escaping its grasp. My hair was soaked, and sweat was dripping off my face only to evaporate as it hit the burning sand. The sand was scorching and with every step I took another blister would arise on my foot. The sun was so strong that it felt as if I was being pressed down into the sand. As I pour the cold water from my canteen into my mouth it becomes warm almost instantly. The exposed skin is beyond burnt, and feels as though it is about to bubble. My skin is so dry and cracked that when the wind blows it hurts, and the small grains of sand scar my crisped skin on contact. The heat is like torture, and death is almost certain.

Ozymandias, The King of Kings

The connection between the ¨Watchmen¨ and ¨Ozymandias¨ is the character Ozymandias. In ¨Watchmen¨ the character Adrian Veidt is supposedly the smartest man in the world, and he becomes the superhero Ozymandias. He believes that he is better than all the other superheroes. He has an attitude of superiority towards everyone, no matter who they are. Adrian Veidt runs a very powerful business, and uses this to create a platform for himself as ¨Ozymandias, the King of Kings.¨ He believes that he is so much above everyone else that he even makes action figures of Ozymandias which he sells in his companies. The poem ¨Ozymandias¨ refers to the great Egyptian Pharaoh who ruled Egypt for 66 years and he was extremely powerful. He also thought he was the ¨King of Kings¨ so he built a huge statue of himself in the desert. The poem says that ¨nothing beside remains,¨ basically stating that nothing lasts forever. The Pharaoh thinks that he is so powerful that he will last forever, but no one can last forever. In both the novel and the poem Ozymandias is so obsessed with himself that he forgets that no one immortal, and everyone must die eventually. All of the superheroes are trying to do the right thing, but they do believe that they are better than everyone else and they want to live above everyone else. To be a superhero you need to have a certain attitude of superiority of towards everyone else. The poem tells us that we are human and will eventually die, even if we think we rule the Earth. The so called ¨superheroes¨ don't realize it but everyone is at the mercy of time, and time controls everything and everyone.

How To Grow A Beard

When you decide to grow a beard, you have to be committed to the beard. Put all thoughts of shaving out of your mind, hide your razor if you need to. The experience will change you for ever. Growing a respectable beard isn't going to be a walk in the park, because it takes time and effort to do this. Once you have grown a beard, there are many ways to style it. There's everything from a full beard to just a mustache. Some of the more common beards are the Cathedral, Spade, Stiletto, Goatees, Circle Beards, Lip Curtains, Chin Curtains, and Side Burns ( Wolverine, Lamb Chops, Reverse Goatee, and Mutton Chops). There are also chin whiskers such as the horseshoe and Soul Patch. The Dali, Handlebar, and Fu Manchu are the best of the mustaches. Once you have a beard you need to take god care of it. Trimming keeps the beard looking clean and respectable, but never trim a wet beard or mustache. Keeping your beard clean is just as important as trimming. You should wash and shampoo your beard regularly, and a conditioner will help soften your beard to some extent. Pat your beard dry with a soft towel and never blow dry. After washing and drying, you should comb your beard with a wide comb in order to remove tangles. If you follow these rules you will have a nice clean beard that people will respect.

Watchmen

In the book Watchmen, superheroes emerge in the United States in the 1940s to help win the Vietnam War. The Vietnam war occurred from 1959 to 1975, in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. The war started because communist North Vietnam wanted South Vietnam to be communist as well. The United States was allied with South Vietnam, and entered the war to prevent the South from being taken over. The Vietcong fought a guerrilla war in South Vietnam against the governments army and the United States. In April 1975 North Vietnam captured Saigon, and the following year the North and South were reunified. In terms of fatalities, the war exacted 3 to 4 million Vietnamese from both sides. In Watchmen the six main characters(The Comedian, Dr. Manhatted, Nite Owl, Ozymandias, Rorschach, and the Silk Spectre), win the Vietnam War for the united States, and create tension between the U.S. and the Soviet Union throughout the Cold War. One of the main images in the book is a blood smeared smiley face, which was taken from the Galle Crater on Mars. The blood stained smiley face symbolizes a recurring motif throughout the book.

Detroit Red Wings Season Review

The Detroit Red Wings have had a very good comeback season as the reigning Stanley Cup champions. Despite the fact that they are in 3rd place overall, they have been a very dominating team in the NHL, and they are only 4 points away from the first place spot. The Detroit Red Wings set an NHL record this season for going 9 seasons with 100 points or more. Not many teams have had consecutive seasons with at least 100 points. They lead the league with 3.59 goals per game, and have the best power play percentage of 25.5%. Detroit out shoots their opponent almost every game, and they lead the league with shots on goal per game. On the other side, Detroit does have a weakness that could prevent them from winning the cup this season. They do not have the most reliable goal tending out there. Chris Osgood is starting to see the effects of aging in his play. He did guide them to the cup last year, but he is not as solid as he used to be. At the other goalie position, Ty Conklin might not have enough experience to lead them to the cup. Detroit has still managed to claim the 3rd place position with average goal tending, and they are still a huge threat going into the playoffs.
